This beautiful garden, left in Trust to Sawston by Mary Challis, is a peaceful haven in the centre of the village, accessed by a narrow passageway off the High Street. Wonderful displays of spring bulbs are followed by mixed perennial beds and flowering shrubs through summer into autumn. Bring refreshments, relax in the garden and listen to the birdsong. Explore wooded areas, wildflowers meadow, orchard, pond, vegetable beds and much more.

The Listening Post relates memories of Sawston’s history, recorded by older, long term residents. It stands in the flower gardens close to the back door of the Challis House, next to a metal table and chairs. Simple operating instructions, and a guide to current content (frequently updated), are kept in the attached document holder.
Garden Map – We have installed a Garden Map near the entrance which displays the main features of the garden and includes visual contrasts, textures, raised large print and braille lettering, as well as tactile and visual symbols.
